Your files: the free tools

Videos and images you process with the free tools are handled entirely inside your browser, on your own graphics hardware. They are not uploaded, not transmitted, not stored and not seen by us — which you can confirm by disconnecting from the network and using them anyway. Because nothing is uploaded, there is nothing for us to retain, share or delete on your behalf.

Your files: the cloud models

The cloud models are the exception, and they are marked as such wherever they appear. When you run one, the file you chose is uploaded to our storage and handed to the model’s provider for that run only. We keep the result for 30 days so you can download it again, tied to your account; you can delete it sooner from your profile, and deleting your account deletes everything at once. We also keep a record of each run and each purchase — which model, when, and how many credits — but never the file itself.

Your files are not training material

We never use an upload for anything except the run you asked for — not to train a model, not to build a sample gallery, not to test with later. Nor does the provider train on it: fal’s terms license a file to it for one purpose, providing the service, and running your job is that purpose. What its terms do reserve is anonymised and aggregated data about how the service is used, which may be derived from what passes through it. We tell you that because a promise that only holds if nobody reads the contract is not a promise.

Third parties

Three companies are involved in the paid tier, and each sees only what its job requires. fal.ai runs the models: it receives the file for the run and is instructed to discard its copy of the output within 24 hours. Clerk provides sign-in and holds your email address and login method. PayPal processes payments; we never see your card or bank details, only that a payment of a given amount completed. None of them receives your files or account data for any other purpose.

Accounts

The free tools need no account and ask for nothing. The paid cloud models do — a balance has to belong to someone. Signing in is through Google or an email code, handled by Clerk; we store your account id, the email address it reports, your credit balance and its history. Delete the account from your profile at any time: the balance is forfeited and every stored result is removed immediately.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count page views and to see which pages people find useful. It sets a cookie in your browser and tells Google which page you are on and roughly where you are. Advertising and cross-device features are switched off — this measures the site, it does not build an audience to sell.

It also records that an upscale happened: which method was used, how long it took, whether it finished and whether the result was downloaded. It never records the contents, the pixels, the dimensions or the names of your files — those never leave your device, so there is nothing there for it to read.

Blocking it costs you nothing. Every part of this site works with analytics blocked, and the tool itself works with the network disconnected entirely.

Advertising (separate from the above)

This site may display advertising. Advertising partners are independent of the file-processing described above and may set cookies or read device identifiers to serve and measure ads, according to their own privacy policies. They have no access to the files you process here, because those files never leave your device.

No advertising is running here yet. On the day it does, visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland will be shown a consent dialog before any advertising cookie is set, and California residents will be able to exercise their “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” rights through the same dialog.
